Turtle, Sea, Giant: These basically
non-aggressive marine creatures will FIGHT fiercely if annoyed or threatened.
If they surface beneath a
small craft there is a possibility of upsetting the vessel, i.e.
90% for a long boat, 10% for a typical long ship.
The head and flippers of the creature
are AC 5, but they can be withdrawn to make these
areas AC 3.

Turtle, Snapping, Giant: Feared
greatly for their voracious appetite && aggressiveness, giant snapping
turtles are found in lakes and large rivers.
They lurk near shore or on the bottom,
as they do not swim quickly.
They remain motionless, thus surprising
on 1-4 (out of 6),
and then shoot forth their long neck (up
to 10' long) to grab their prey.
The head and limbs of these monsters are
AC 5,
but they can be withdrawn to offer AC

My mother said her worst
mistake in raising me was reading Tom Sawyer to me--I loved reading myself,
but being read too allowed
more visualization of the story
Indeed, a friend of mine
helped me to build a raft to float around on the lake wher when I was around
age 12.
BTW, my grandfather owned
a 110 and a 40 acre parcel of land.
The played a lot on the
"40," picnicked, camped, had BB gun fights, even dynamited
when I was older.
That was sure a lot of fun.
Once we came across a moss-back
snapping turtle there, and I hid under a bush only to discover a long-dead
coyote next to me
Cheers,
Gary

Well...
In the dark, damp forests, that could well be moss, as is seen on the backs of sole old snapping turtles
