Effect: When the cleric
calls down a flame strike spell, a
column of fire
roars downward in the exact location called for by the
caster.
If any creature is within
the AREA of effect of a flame strike, it must
make a saving
throw. Failure to make the save means the creature has
sustained 6-48 (6d8) hit
points of damage; otherwise, 3-24 (3d8) HP
of damage are taken.
MC: A pinch of sulphur.
WSG:
Using a high-powered fire spell such as this to
start a campfire is about
as sensible as lighting a pipe with a blowtorch.
The flame strike will momentarily
ignite everything in a 10-
foot diameter area, and
when the duration expires any easily
flammable materials within
that area will be charred to a crisp. If
the immediate area also
contains combustible materials, the use
of this spell (and most
other sorts of fire magic) could start an uncontrollable
fire;
see the section on Camping and Campfires for
details.
