Area: It affects approximately a fifteen inch shaft of wood of up to one inch diameter per level of the druid.
Area.example: Thus,
at 1st level, a druid might be able to warp a hand
axe handle, or four crossbow bolts,
at 5th level he or she could
warp the shaft of a typical magic spear.
Effect: When this
spell is cast the druid causes a volume of wood to bend && warp,
permanently destroying its
straightness, form, and strength.
The range of a warp wood
spell is 1" for each level of experience of the druid casting it.
Note that boards or planks
can also be affected, causing a door to be sprung or a boat or ship to
leak.
Spell.hold portal.DMG:
Attempting to affect the wood of a magically held or wizard locked door
is another matter.
The level of the druid is
compared to the level of the magic-user,
and only if the latter is
of lower level than the former will the spell have any chance of working.
For each level of experience
greater than the magic-user, the druid has a 20% chance of warping dweomered
wood.
Spell.wizard lock.DMG:
See above.
Warp Wood: The PH states that there is
no ST against this spell, but
PCs would be aware that magickally
treated wood (eg, a wizard locked door)
is
resistant to this spell in some cases. The
DMG gives details.
(Imagine #30)
Wu
Jen: This spell causes wood to bend and warp.
The area of effect is equal
to 15 inches of 1 inch-diameter
wood per level, which is
approximately a hand axe handle or four crossbow bolts. The spell may be
used
against the boards of a
ship or a bolted door, but if used on magical items or enchanted objects,
it only succeeds
if the caster is a higher
level than the spell on the door or object, and then only has a 20% chance
of success per
level of difference.
Wu Jen.MC: A green
twig, which is bent as the spell is cast.
