Little is known of the origin && purpose
of this unusual creature in
form, when on the PMP,
it is approximately man-sized
and bipedal; its body is colored in faint, light
blue sparks and <link: spark, FR4>
even when it is some distance
away, anyone with good hearing will
hear a very faint crackling which increases in
intensity as the shocker
approaches. It is quite clear that this creature
does not have its
origin on the PMP,
though its purpose in visiting that
plane has not been divined; some say it is from
the NMP <i>
while others postulate the existence of an Electromagnetic
Plane, <Quasi-Elemental Plane of Lightning?>
conterminous <sic: coterminous> with all three
Material
Planes and the Elemental Planes. <added s> <l>
Whatever the case, its existence on the PMP
is rarely prolonged and this has led to speculation
that its form
while on the PMP
is merely a projection --
that the shocker's actual body never leaves its
plane of origin.
<good hearing
= keen eared?>
<detail the
Electro-Magnetic
Plane>
<is the XP
value correct, or divide by 10?>
The shocker attacks by discharging 10 points of
electrical damage on
a successful hit (save
vs. Death Magic indicates half <(1/2)>
damage).
Metal armour is treated as AC10 against their
attack (though appropriate magical and dexterity
bonuses still apply)
and shockers gain a bonus of + 2 on the 'to hit'
roll when attacking plate mail.
<field plate +3, full plate
+4?> || <+2 vs. plate, field plate, and full plate>
<as well, metal armor could
impose a save penalty, perhaps: cf. DMG.80>
1-4 gems will sometimes (15% chance) be discovered
in the body structure
of each shocker and these will be revealed when
the creature has discharged.
A shocker is immune to electrical attacks,
to poison and to paralyzation;
it is not affected by spells (such as sleep
and charm) which affect the mind.
Against other magical attacks it has 50% resistance.
