The shuriken is a small throwing weapon.

Stars have three or more razor-edged points, ensuring that at least one will strike the victim when thrown.
They come in a variety of sizes (here divided into large and small).
Spikes are large pins, tapering to sharp points.
Both are thrown by hand and have a limited range.
Shuriken are easily concealed.
They can be hidden in folds of clothing or tucked in sashes.
Spikes can even be worn in the hair.
