The sune-ate is a shin guard, extending from the top of the ankle to the bottom of the knee.
It is normally made of splints of metal attached to leather padding and wrapped around the shin and tied into place.
It protects against crippling blows made to the lower leg.
When several pieces of armor are worn, the movement rate drops to the next lower category, although it never falls below that of the o-yoroi.
