The plastered walls here show scenes of
revelry and debauchery, involving coronated individuals similar to those in the previous chamber. Those rewarded in the antechamber were evidently taken here to be feted. Couches, cushions, and pillows surround small tables. The place is in disorder, as if those once here left hurriedly. Several stands are tipped over, as are chairs; stains on the carpets show where food and drink were spilled and never cleaned. Dishes, ewers, and drinking vessels lie in scattered profusion. All of the furnishings are of excellent workmanship and materials, but all are disgusting in what they depict. The walls have many cressets, and bronze candelabra and hanging lamps are in the corners. |
