chant=
Effect: By means of the chant,
chant=the
cleric
brings into being a special favor upon himself II herself and his II her
party,
chant=and
causes harm to his II her enemies.
chant=Once
the chant spell is completed,
chant=all
attacks, damage and saves made by those in the area of effect who are friendly
to the cleric are at + 1,
chant=while
those of the cleric's enemies are at -1.
chant=This
+bonus+/-penalty-
continues as long as the cleric continues to chant
the mystic syllables and is stationary.
chant=An
interruption, however, such as an attack which succeeds and causes damage,
grappling the chanter, or a magical silence, will break the spell.
chant(shukenja)=Upon
completing the spell, all of the shukenja's allies in the area of effect
make their attacks, damage,
saving throws at + 1, while
all foes of the shukenja are at -1. The benefits and penalties last only
as long as the
shukenja is chanting, and
any motion or attack interrupts the spell.
Q: What does a bless
spell do, and
how is it different from
the chant
and prayer spells? Also,
are the
chant spell?s damage bonuses
and
penalties counted per attack
or per
die of damage? Do the areas
of effect
of these spells move with
their
casters?
(153.6)
A: Here?s what each
spell does: A bless
gives friendly creatures
+ 1 on morale
?to hit? rolls; if reversed
(as a curse), it
gives enemies a - 1 on those
rolls. A chant
spell gives friendly creatures
+ 1 on ?to
hit,? damage, and saving-throw
rolls; at the
same time, enemies receive
a - 1 on the
same rolls. A prayer spell
gives friendly
creatures + 1 on ?to hit?
and saving-throw
rolls, and enemies - 1 on
the same rolls.
Prayer does not affect damage,
and neither
prayer nor chant affect
morale. The
areas of effect for each
spell are fixed and
do not move with their casters.
Bless affects
creatures in its area of
effect at the
time of casting only; chant
and prayer
affect all creatures in
the area of effect,
even those who enter after
the spells are
completed. Damage modifiers
from chant
are per attack, not per
die of damage.
