or as a brooch which pins on. It appears to be an amulet which prevents location,
scrying (crystal ball viewing and the like), or detection/influence
by ESP/telepathy. Actually, the amulet doubles the likelihood and/or
range of these location and detection modes, however. Normal
determination attempts, including detect magic, will not reveal its true
nature.
