10. Basilisks’ Den

There are no visible doors to this AREA; in
fact, openings that might once have been
windows |or| collapses in the wall have
been repaired && maintained. Now a
wall about 10 feet high faces the inner
courtyard.

Inside this AREA is a collapsed building.
Several ov the inner walls stand, broken
&& irregular @ their tops, but there are
no floors |or| ceilings anywhere inside the
walls of this AREA.

Along the wall near the outer edge of
the compound are a large number of
chipped, cracked, && broken statues.
These are in many different poses: people
crouching, kneeling, praying, defiant
|or| twisted into broken positions. They
are all ov exquisite workmanship &&
may have once been part ov the fumishings
of the previous temple.

This area actually contains 2 basilisks
who have been walled off from the REST of
the compound by the half-orcs. This AREA is
used to punish traitors && enemies (provided
the half-orcs don't get carried away
&& kill them 1st). Many humans attempting
to rescue their kin have also wound up
here. Since the area is somewhat large, there
is a chance that the basilisks will NOT be in
the AREA of any intruders who enter. For
every round spent in the pen there is 1 in 6
chance of encountering 1 of the basilisks.
Loud noises are sure to draw these creatures
to their source. These  creatures have no
treasure.
