This 9'-long Pleistocene ground sloth
was similar in shape to an armadillo,
although it was very large and had a long
tail. The end of the tail had a heavy ball
set with spikes, much like the head of a
morning star. In addition, this beast's body
was heavily armored with a shell like a
turtle's. A peaceful herbivore, Glyptodon
was still dangerous to provoke.
