Tylosaurus is a mosasaur, a giant
ma-
rine lizard (not a dinosaur). It is pro-
pelled through the water both by flippers
and by its powerful tail. It has a large
head and mouth, shaped like a lizard’s
rather than a carnosaur’s. Other mem-
bers of the family of mosasaurs include
mosasaurus and nothosaurus.
