Effect: This spell
enables a M-U to magically
silence one creature
and an AREA
xtending all about that
creautre to a
distance of 1 foot.
The silence occurs
instantly upon the utterance
of the
power word, ruining
any spellcasting in
progress, and continuing
in the round
following the round in which
the
power word was uttered.
The silence
foils spellcasting, the
utterance of any
word of activation || command
words,
normal speech || shouted
alarms,
banging noises, and blocks
all sound,
effectively deafening the
TARGET.
The TARGET can of course
MOVE,
breathe, or even ring a
gong or operate a
magical noisemaker (incl.
such items as
a horn of Valhalla or blasting
and a
chime of opening) without
any effect
xcept the xpenditure of
charges, if
applicable. Dispel magic
or dispel silence
will not affect the silence
created by a
power word, a limited
wish or more powerful
spell is required.
