either of the other two orders, yet it is in their
nature to top out in levels sooner than either
of the other orders.

Min. Requirements: Any who {wish} to
join the order of the Black Robes must meet
all of the min. stats standards
req. of student wizards. They must also
have passed the Test of High Sorcery without
having committed an act contrary to the laws of evil.

Q: Why can?t wizards of the Black
Robes cast evocation spells such as
fireball and lightning bolt? Weren?t
these spells included in the AD&D
game to compensate for the magicuser
?s lack of melee ability?

A: The order of the Black Robes simply
does not teach evocation spells. To compensate
for this, wizards of the Black
Robes advance faster than the other
orders. Also, do not sell the Black Robes
short -- their spell selection, though not
flashy, includes some potent magic.
