Effect: This spell
creates a magical sphere around the caster which prevents any
first,
second or
third level
spells from penetrating,
i.e. the AREA
of effect of any such spells does not include the AREA of the minor
globe of invulnerability.
However, any sort of spells
can be cast out of the magical sphere,
and they pass from the caster
of the globe, through its area of effect,
and to their target without
effect upon the minor globe of invulnerability.
Effect.exception: Fourth and higher level spells are not affected by the globe.
DMG: The globe gives
off a faint shimmering when it forms.
Minor Globe of Invulnerabiliity: A crucial
detail only found in the DMG is that the
globe gives off 'a faint shimmering', so it
should automatically be visible in dungeon
settings, unless a strong light
source such as continual light
is affecting
the location. Just how faint this shimmering
is is not clear and the color is not
specified -- there may not be one!
(Imagine #29)
MC: The material component of the spell is a glass or crystal bead.
Spell.dispel magic: It can be brought down by a dispel magic spell.
Item.DMG: Third level
spells from devices - fireballs or lightning, for example - will not penetrate
its sphere.
