Effect: By means of
this spell the illusionist misdirects the information from a detection-type
spell,
i.e. detect
charm,
detect evil, detect invisibility, detect
lie, detect magic, and detect snares & pits.
While the detection spell
functions, the information it reveals will indicate the wrong AREA,
creature, or the opposite
of the truth with respect to detect evil
or detect lie.
The illusionist directs
the spell effect upon the creature or item which is the object of the detection
spell.
If the caster of the detection-type
spell fails his or her saving throw, the misdirection takes place.
Wu Jen: By means of
this spell, the wu jen causes detection spells to misfunction.
The misdirection causes
the detect to reveal the wrong area, creature, or object, or the opposite
of the truth.
The spell is cast upon an
object, creature, or area, but the spell-caster throwing the detect gets
a saving throw vs. spell to determine if the misdirection takes place.
WSG: If this spell
is cast upon a character with some
knowledge-based proficiency
(animal lore, direction sense, etc.)
and the target fails a saving
throw, the interpretation or assumption
made by the proficient character
will be reversed, so that a
correct assessment becomes
incorrect or vice versa. Of course,
the spell-caster will not
usually know ahead of time whether the
character was making a correct
assessment or not.
