Effect: By means of this spell any one item of a weight of 50 g.p. per level of experience of the spell caster
can be given an aura which will be noticed if detection of magic is exercised upon the object.

If the object bearing the Nystul's Magic Aura is actually held by the creature detecting for a dweomer, he, she or it is entitled to a save vs. magick, and if this throw is successful, the creature knows that the aura has been placed to mislead the unwary.
Otherwise, the aura is simply magical, but no amount of testing will reveal what the magic is.

MC: The component for this spell is a small p of silk which must be passed over the object to bear the aura.

Greetings!

Did you make up named spells like Melf's Acid Arrow, Otiluke's Resilient Sphere and Mordenkainen's Disjunction () yourself, or did these come from player research?

All of those spells I made up, usually to hono a PC in my campaign, or for the person who suggested the basis
(Tasha was a little girl who sent me letters in crayon,
Nystul an actual stage magician I mey through Len Lakofka.)
Melf was a PC of son Luke,
and "Otiluke" was a combination of a couple of his other PCs.
He suggested the bases of both spells.
No need to go into Mordenkainen and bigby, I trust <rollingeyes>
