Effect: By means of this spell the MU is able to move objects by will force, by concentrating on moving them mentally.
The TK spell causes the desired
object to move vertically or horizontally.
Movement is 2" the first
round, 4" the second, 8' the third, 16" the fourth, and so on,
doubling each round until
a maximum telekinetic movement of 1,024" per round is reached.
(Heavy objects travelling
at high speed can be deadly weapons!)
Note that telekinesis can be used to move opponents who fall within the weight capacity of the spell,
Counter.increase_weight:
but if they are able to employ as simple a counter-measure as an enlarge
spell, for example
(thus making the body weight
go over the maximum spell limit), it is easily countered.
Counter.movement:
Likewise, ambulation or some other form of motive power if the recipient
of the spell is not able to ambulate,
counters the effect of telekinesis,
provided the velocity has not reached 16" per round.
Counter.force_structure.: The various Bigby's Hand spells will also counter this spell, as will many other magics.
R^: 3" + 1"/level of mastery | SPC^: 3/round | D^: S | S^: None | A^: S |
This ability resembles the
magic-user spell telekinesis (q.v.).
The psionic individual is
able to use the science to mentally move (telekinese) objects weighing
up to a maximum of 30 gold
piece weight equivalence,
cumulative, per level of mastery,
i.e. 30 g.p. weight at 1st
level of mastery,
90 g.p. (30 + 60) at 2nd,
180 g.p. (30 + 60 + 90)
at 3rd,
300 g.p. (30 + 60 + 90 +
120) at 4th,
450 g.p. (30 + 60 + 90 +
120 + 150) at 5th etc.
Duration is a function of
the psionic strength of the individual.
The object to be telekinesed
must be in clear sight of the psionically endowed individual.
Q: Can a psionic character
levitate himself by the use of the telekinesis
discipline?
A: No.
Like the spell of the same
name, this power can only affect
things or beings external
to the one employing the power, not
the user or caster himself.
Note that live creatures can be affected
by telekinesis, and although
the discipline allows for no saving
throw for its target(s),
creatures and characters may use any
means at their disposal
to negate the discipline or make its maintenance
more difficult -- grabbing
a heavy object to increase
one's weight, or perhaps
using a spell or other power to make
oneself larger and/or heavier.

Effect: This spell
allows the wu jen to move objects by mental concentration.
Such movement is 2" the
first round and doubles each round (to a maximum of 1024" per round).
Telekinesis may be
used to move opponents within the weight limit,
but those that move otherwise
(such as flight),
may escape the effects of
the spell,
provided a speed of 16"
per round has not been reached.
Question: We are having
an argument over an issue that has us divided.
My friends say that with
a ring of telekinesis they
can make an arrow spin at the speed of light and then release it,
having it do between 100
and 600 points of damage to their target. I say this is impossible! What
do you think?
Answer: I agree with
you. Their idea, based on whatever logic they may have used, is absurd.
* First,
the ring works as per the spell and the maximum speed any object can reach
is 1,024” per round.
* Second,
even if you were able to make the arrow reach the speed of light,
the wooden
shaft and the feathers could not stand the force and would be destroyed.
I also
doubt that you can control any thing that is going that fast and it might
strike you.
* Lastly,
I know of nothing that can inflict 600 points of damage.
The most damage that can
be taken in one melee from one opponent is from a<the> Platinum
Dragon, and that is 168 points from his breath weapon. <revise>
