These creatures --
giant versions of the carnivorous variety of the ordinary bat, <varieties: there are 1000s of bat species>
with bodies 3' long and a wingspan of 5'-6' --
dwell in dark caverns, usually underground.
In flight they emit a high-pitched,
whistling sound,
a navigational device which compensates for their poor eyesight. <see the note at ordinary bat>

Giant bats are highly manoeuvrable in flight --
anyone with a DEX of less than 13 who fires a missile at a flying giant bat does so at -3 hit probability.
For purposes of aerial combat, they are manoeuvrability class class C. <edit, and note at move>

The creature must land
-- to attack with its bite (1-2 || 1-4 points of damage).
1% of victims bitten by giant bats contract rabies.
    <make link to DMG>
    <rabies is BNS.acute.fatal, in DMG terms>
    <technically, it is bat rabies, another species Lyssavirus, but rabies is close enough: game school>
    <rabies, noted at the DMG>

Only 10% of giant bats are of the 1 HD variety.
