Killmoulis always dwell where
some industry is in progress, preferably
one involving grain || other
foodstuffs. They inhabit the areas under
floors, in cracks in walls
or amidst the dark rafters, only coming out
when the human workers leave.
Brownie-like,
the killmoulis then
work and otherwise make
themselves useful, at the same time devouring
prodigious amounts of meal,
flour, grain or whatever other foodstuffs are avail.
It is also an integral part
of their nature to play tricks & practical jokes --
certain to be destructive
|| harmful if the inhabitants of the place molest
any of the killmoulis, but
otherwise of merely bothersome && irksome nature
without undue destruction.
<SD:> Killmoulis are very
FAST and are able to blend with their surroundings
and conceal themselves in
shadowy places so as to be virtually undetectable
(10% chance only).
They hate
dogs
& cats almost as much as they
do rats,
for these animals will attack
killmoulis. While the latter are snared or killed
with long pins, the former
are typically poisoned if they prove a threat,
the killmoulis gaining access
to whatever poison is avail. nearby.
If the killmoulis are unable
to kill the
cats,
dogs and rats which threaten them,
they will certainly move to
another locale.
A killmoulis is typically
quite
small, usu. under a foot in height.
Each has a thin body &
limbs, but a large head with proportionate ears.
There is no mouth in the
head, food being drawn into the huge nose.
Killmoulis appear to communicate
with each other on the telepathic level.

The booka
and kilmoulis are "fairie folk" from books of folklore from which I devised
the creatures of the same nemes for the AD&D
game.
I had a side adventure area akin to the Isle of the Ape, Dungeonland, and The Land Beyond the Magic Mirror set up for my campaign. I titled it A Midsummer's Night's Nightmare. It was populated with all of the British-based monsters such as the booka and the kilmoulis, as well as many sorts of "little people" as commanded by Oberon and Titania (don't mess with them!)...and Puck too was a most dangerous encounter.
Sadly, all of that has been lost, and after 20 years I have forgotten the details <paranoid>
Cheers,
Gary
