The alu-demons are the offspring of the
mating of succubi and humans.
They are always .
Their base AC is high because of their
demonic heritage,
and this can be increased by magical protections,
including enchanted
armor.
Wearing only mundane protetction interferes
with intrinsic protection of alu-demons,
so this is never done.
If the protection is basically inferior
to the normal armor class <AC> of the wearer,
then only the magical plus <(+)> is
added,
but otherwise full benefit is gained.
Thus,

leather adds +1 only,
while
+1
plate mail would increase AC to 2.
Furthermore,
alu-demons with high dexterity
gain bonuses as would a normal human.
<25%> of alu-demons are of genius
level.
While most of these creatures are able
to perform the limited number of spell-like powers listed below,
those of genius intelligence are actual
magic-users.
Magic use level ranges from 1st through
12th level with equal probabilities for each.

8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th>
Magic use is in addition to intrinsic
powers.
The intrinsic powers of alu-demons, performable 1 at a time, 1 per round, are :
charm
person,
ESP,
shape
change (to a humanoid form of approximately their own height and weight
only),
and suggestion.
Each can be performed up to 3 times per
day,
at the 12th level of ability.
dimension door can be used once per day.
All alu-demons have superior infravision for 240 feet.
In addition to the ability to employ any
sort of weapon,
regardless of normal class restrictions,
alu-demons can,
at will,
drain life energy from a person and use
half of it to restore their own lost HP.
Such attacks must be by firm touch,
indicated by a successful to-hit score
in melee.
From 1-8 HP of energy are drained.
Energy gained is from 1-4 HP,
with fractions rounded up.
Alu-demons can be harmed only by cold-wrought
iron or magic weapons.
They have natural resistance to magic.
Some 20% are not totally devoted to Evil.

Alu-demons appear quite human, having only
vestigal horns.
Only their rather
small bat wings betray them for what they actually are.
Q:
Both the succubus and the alu-demon
have
the ability to shape
change
into humanoid creatures of
roughly
their own sizes. Is this a
true
shape change ability, in that
these
monsters actually gain the
abilities
of their new forms? Also,
how
great a change in size is
allowed?
A:
These creatures? shape change abilities
are
not the same as the ninth-level magicuser
spell;
they are similar to the more
limited
druidic ability. The ability is only
useful
for disguise and deception, to conceal
these
creatures' demonic natures.
These
demons are limited to the forms of
creatures
that are identified as "persons"
on
page 45 of the Players Handbook and
similar
creatures from the FIEND FOLIO®
tome
and Monster Manual II. The disguise
is
complete, however, and the demon
receives
all of the racial abilities of the
new
form. For example, a succubus shape
changed
into a dwarf would be able to
spot
unsafe stonework, determine depth,
etc.
Remember that character levels are
not
a racial characteristic. I suggest limiting
the
change in size to 25% of the original
creature?s
actual height and weight.
