Effect: The cleric casting an augury spell seeks to divine
whether an action in the immediate future (within 3 turns) will be for the
benefit of, or harmful to, the party.

The base chance for correctly divining
the augury is 70%, plus 1 % for each level of the cleric casting the spell,
i.e. 71% at 1st level, 72% at 2nd, etc.
Your referee will determine any adjustments due for the particular conditions of each augury.

    Effect.example: For example,
assume that a party is considering the destruction of a weird seal which closes a portal.
Augury is used to find if weal || woe will be the ultimate result to the party.

DMG: This is a general future determinant with only a half hour maximum,
so you need not be too exacting with regard to your vagueness.
When the augury is cast,
simply compare the knowledge you have and give the character general impressions of the question asked.

DMG.example: "Will we do well if we venture onto the third level?"
Answer: "Those who survive will be rich!"
Basis: You have a terrible troll near where the character will enter the level (if he does),
but the probable party is strong enough to beat it after a hard fight, and the monster guards 10,000 sp and a +1 shield.

MC: A set of gem inlaid sticks, dragon bones, or similar tokens,
or the wet leaves of an infusion which remain in the container after the infused brew is consumed.
If the last method is used, a crushed pearl of at least 100 g.p. value must be added to the concoction before it is consumed.

SH1: The shukenja attempts to learn whether some action taken in the next
<3> turns will be for good or ill. The base chance of success is 70% +plus+
1% per level of the caster. The DM decides the answer, always stated in
general terms. Precise details are never revealed through this spell.

SH.MC: A set of straight willow sticks II carved bones.

Question: When an Augury spell is cast, do the gem-inlaid sticks disappear, or can they be used over again?

Answer: Any material component used to cast a spell disappears as soon as the spell is cast,
regardless of whether the spell is a Cleric’s spell or a Magic-User’s spell.
(Correction: There are some exceptions to this, noted in particular spell descriptions).
(Correction: Mistletoe && holy symbols are material components, and they do not disappear when used to cast a spell).

WSG: Comes in handy for determining if the greenery you’ve
gathered for supper is edible, in the absence of a character with
proficiency in plant lore or as a safeguard against the possibility
of the character’s estimation being incorrect. Of course, the augury
itself does not always produce accurate results. . . .

UA:
1. cast at the immediate entrance to a dungeon map (level) : a successful augury reveals weal (too easy) or WOE (too hard).
2. often, a set number of choices are given for a room/encounter.
if augury is memorized, augury is added to the list of choices.

In Curse of the Azure Bonds,
there was a warning, given in BIG PINK LETTERS,
when the party was about to enter an AREA that was too high level for them.
(eg. a L1 party on the WG map, about to enter the S1 square).

Relate this concept to the augury and divination spells.
