CT: The casting time is also the total time the M-U has to word the geas spell.
Effect: A geas spell
places a magical command upon the creature (usually human or humanoid)
to carry out some service,
OR refrain from some action
or course of activity,
as desired by the spell
caster.
The creature must be intelligent,
conscious, and under its own volition.
While a geas cannot compel
a creature to kill itself, or to perform acts which are likely to result
in certain death,
it can cause almost any
other course of action.
The spell causes the geased
creature to follow the instructions until the geas is completed.
Failure to do so will cause
the creature to grow sick and die within 1 to 4 weeks.
Deviation from or twisting
of the instructions causes corresponding loss of strength
points until the deviation ceases.
Your referee will instruct
you as to any additional details of a geas,
for its casting and fulfillment
are tricky, and an improperly CAST geas is null and void immediately (cf.
wish).
DMG: [Geas] is otherwise similar to a quest.
Spell.dispel
magic: a dispel magic or remove curse will not negate it.
Spell.remove
curse: a dispel magic or remove curse will not negate it.
Spell.wish: A geas
con be done away with by a wish spell.
Effect.exception: A geas cannot compel a creature to kill itself, or to perform acts which are likely to result in certain death.
Wu
Jen: A geas places a magical command upon an intelligent,
conscious creature to perform (or not perform) certain actions.
Self-destructive orders
are always ignored, but all others are followed until they are completed.
Ignoring the geas causes
the TARGET creature to sicken and die within 1d4 weeks, with deviation
resulting in loss of Strength points.
A geas may only be lifted
by a wish spell or other similar magic.
The wu jen has the casting
time alone to phrase the nature of the geas.
