Between the wall and the actual fortified
headquarters of the slave
lords stretches an
open courtyard. It is covered with close-cut
grass but contains no cover or concealment.
There are 4 minotaur
lizards in the courtyard,
one on each side. They have been specially
bred and trained to guard the
courtyard and possess a dim intelligence
that allows them to he ordered and controlled
by the soldiers on the wall. Upon
command they will attack any living thing
within the courtyard, and will fight to
the
death when
in combat, being deterred by
neither food
nor fire.

the city garrison can be summoned within
2 turns by means of a flickering light
signal
flashed from the rooftop battlements
of
the citadel.
