Explanation/Description:
Upon laying his || her hand upon a creature,
the cleric
causes from 1 to 8 HP of wound or other injury damage
to the
creature's body to be healed.
This healing will not
affect creatures without corporeal bodies,
nor will it cure wounds
of creatures not living or those which can be harmed only by iron,
silver,
and for magical weapons.
Note that cured wounds
are perma only insofar as the creature does not sustain further damage,
and that caused wounds
will heal -- or can be cured -- just
as any normal injury will.
MC.Druid:
With the exception of the fact that the druid must
have
mistletoe (of any sort) to
effect this spell,
it is the same as the first
level cleric cure light wounds spell.
Sh.:
Upon touching a damaged character, the shukenja heals 1-8 points of damage
to the character, so long
as he has a solid body and is still alive.
Its esrever, cause light
wounds, operates in the same manner;
and if a person is avoiding
this touch, a melee combat "to hit" die is rolled to determine if
the cleric's hand strikes
the opponent and causes such a wound.
Caused light wounds are
1 to 8 HP of damage.
Sh.Cause
Light Wounds:
The esrever, cause light wounds, inflicts 1-8 points of damage on
the victim.

Question: If an evil
Cleric is wounded can he cure himself?
It is assumed that he can’t
heal others as that would be a basically good act.
What about a Raise
Dead spell?
Can he USE that if he proves
that his intentions are evil?
Answer: Yes, the cleric
can cure himself and others as well.
He helps keep those nasty
critters (men) alive to further the purpose
of evil.
I know of an evil Cleric
who helps keep a party in Cures.
He benefits from it.
He is rotten to the core
and would kick his mother out of her home if he thought something could
be gained from it.
As long as the Fighters
are doing their job and keeping him from being attacked, sure, he will
adminster to them.
You get more treasure
if your Fighters kill more monsters,
and they can only do that if they are alive.
Besides, if a Cleric didn’t
pass out a few Cures and raise a few
dead, he wouldn’t have any worshippers to kneel before his or her
god after a while.
Question: First, can
Clerics || Paladins cure themselves by a Cure
Light
Wounds spell or by
“laying hands” on themselves?
Answer: As stated
in the description of
the Paladin
character class (PH, page 22), the Paladin can “lay
hands” on his/her own person
or any
other character or creature.
However,
the rules of the AD&D™
game do not
specify whether or not the
Cure
Light
Wounds spell can
be used on the body of
the caster. However, the
recently revised
and expanded rulebook for
the D&D® game does spe-
cify that Cure Light
Wounds “may be
cast on the cleric’s own
body” (D&D®
Basic
Rulebook, 1980 edition, page B15).
This does not mean that
the AD&D™ ver-
sion of the spell must be
handled in the
same manner, because there
is no direct
relationship between the
rules for the
D&D
Basic Game and the AD&D™ game.
Ultimately, the decision
is up to the
AD&D™
DM; it would cer-
tainly be logical and reasonable
to allow
the Cure spells to
heal the spell caster, if
the DM wished to allow such
activity.
