The Archclericy of Veluna has long been a shining
example of the better side of humankind in the Flanaess.
Since the state became independent, it has
treated fairly and justly with its neighbors and championed
the cause of righteousness everyhere. After the <>
unfortunate Short War (see Bissel, Keoland),
Veluna
returned to normal affairs and only engaged in formal
military action again when the Horde of Elemental
Evil manifested itself. The Archclericy aids Bissel,
Highfolk, and the Gnomes of the Kron Hills. She is
on very close terms with Furyondy (q.v.).
Seven noble
houses support the clerical ruler of the realm,
the Plar
of Veluna being the foremost. The semi-independent
Viscount of Verbobonc is a willing vassal
of that state,
and his inclusion in the council makes an eighth
noble. Veluna fields a regular army which has a small
core of heavy cavalry, large troops of medium horse,
and scouts which are light cavalry. The bulk of her
infantry are pikemen, with gnomish support and
elven archers.

What did you intend the main religion of Veluna to be? Rao or Cuthbert. I always thought it was Cuthbert, but in the new books it's listed as Rao. I've been running it as a bastion of the faithfull of Cuthbert myself.
I was reading a chat transcript
you did a while back. You were discussing Tsojcanth and how he imprisoned
the Avatar of Tharizdun years back. You said that he was a mage of great
power, of which one is only born every few hundred years. Is that how Mordenkainen
would be described. And epic mage of the sort that in only seen once in
a lifetime?
Damn, but that's stretching
my memory, as its been a long time since I had any PCS involved in Veluna--other
than passing through. As I recall, though, the Archcleric was meant to
be one honoring Rao, but with St. Cuthbert as the common patron of the
state. That is, general service of the masses is to the Good Cuthbert.
As for Mordie, no such pretensions He adventured a lot, made a substantial level, and then got involved in politics.
Cheers,
Gary
